キュノワールの平皿。“cul”はフランス語で「お尻」の意、“noir”は「黒」を表すとおり、背面が黒い(厳密には暗紫褐色もしくは茶褐色)、ノルマンディ地方のルーアンを起源とする古民芸品です。赤茶色、もしくはビスケット色の陶土を素地に、おもて面は白く、背面は黒に近い深飴色をしているのが特徴です。比較的お皿として大きな一枚である本品は、どっしりとした重厚感と気配が素晴らしく、さまざまな料理をより美しく映えさせてくれることと思います。縁にチップや、貫入、クラックがありますが、お使いにあたっては差し当たりない状態かと思いますが、長時間の浸水にはご注意ください。また慎重を期して大事にお取り扱い頂ければと存じます。醸し出す美しい気配が魅力的な逸品ですので、お好きな方は是非。
Large cul-noir flatware. As "cul" means "butt" in French and "noir" means "black", this is an ancient folk art product with a black back (strictly speaking, dark purple-brown or brownish-brown), originating from Rouen in Normandy. It is made of reddish-brown or biscuit-colored clay, with a white surface and a deep, almost dark candy-colored back. As a relatively large dish, this piece has a great sense of solidity and presence and will make various dishes look even more beautiful. There are chips, penetrations, and cracks on the rim, which should not be a problem when using the plate, but please be careful not to immerse it in water for a long time. The beautiful signs it exudes make it an attractive gem if you like it.
